Our Current Needs

New or Gently Used Shoes

We have an ongoing and critical need for athletic shoes for both boys and girls.  We need all sizes, from youth sizes 5-11 through adult sizes 6-12. Several charitable organizations have specifically targeted shoe collections in the last several months, but the growing children we support are in constant need of more footwear.  Currently, we have a shortage of boy’s shoes in elementary sizes 8-13 (2-7) and middle/high school sizes 7.5-12 and girl’s shoes elementary sizes 8-10 and middle/high school sizes 9-11.

In preparation for the Back to School Bash (click here for more info), we are collecting shoes specifically for that event.  Every year we run through our inventory at the Bash since the need is so great.  If you our your organization can help with this effort, please click here for more information.  Thank you!

Volunteers

Kids’ Needs volunteers are active throughout the year.  Currently, we are in need of drivers to collect donations from local business supporters and volunteers to work as a group within the Kids’ Needs storefront in the Englewood Center on South Indiana Avenue in Englewood.  Please click here or email us at kidsneeds@yahoo.com for further information.

Formal Wear for the Prom

Remember your high school prom?  As in years past, Kids’ Needs will provide formal wear – gowns, tuxedos, and suits – to students.  But we can only provide this service if we have an inventory of items to offer.  Please consider donating any gently used formal wear and accessories that you might have at hand.  It will  make a world of difference to a child who might not be able to attend otherwise.  Thank you!

Clothing

Currently, we need pants, jeans, and shorts for elementary school boys and shorts, tops, pants, jeans, jackets, and sweatshirts for elementary-age girls.  No tank tops, printed t-shirts, swimwear, or pajamas, please.

Socks and Underwear

Unlike other donated items, socks and underwear must be new and unused.  We need all sizes for both boys and girls, from elementary school through high school.  Boys’ underwear should be boxer-briefs.  Girls’ underwear should be either hipster or bikini styles.  Socks should be either low-cut or “no show” styles, black preferred.

School Uniforms

Vineland Elementary School students have been required to wear uniforms for the past few years.  Purchasing a school uniform can be a real hardship for a needy family.  If you have children who attended Vineland or Sky Academy and who perhaps have graduated or otherwise outgrown their uniforms, please consider donating those uniforms to Kids’ Needs.  We will see that they go to another Vineland student in need.
